i was planing on getting a 140 amp alternator to power the two batteries for the car...one for the car and one for the audio setup..... do you think that 140amp is an over kill......... i have a 350 small block with a few small upgrades..not sure if that would be thrown into the equation......... the car would be mainly a cruiser car so i WILL be driving it often in the good months.....
I'm not an expert at electronics but I think a 140 alternator and two battewries is definately overkill. A 100 amp alternatror and one batter should be sufficient to run everything including a couple electric fans.

over the years i've went through many alternators in my other cars due to my audio setup..... i'm running two amps that would max out at about 600 watts each..... i would want to buy one alternator that would work as opposed to buying one and trial and error it and burn it up........ what would the 140amp alter. be used for anyways...... a drag car or what..
i thought a 140 would be an over kill.......... i have a 55 amp chrome and a 55 stock alternators that i will be getting rid of asap....... i need to upgrade..
I have a 105 amp now, just barely keeps up with fans running at idle.,i used to use 140 amp alts. on the police cars at work and they burn them out like crazy(too many strobes)we now switched everything over to 250 amp alts. and they work great.Stock ford crown vics for 2005 now come with 200 amp alts. stock.Im looking to change over to something more, something like the msd one.
I've been using a 100amp alternator for a long time with underdrive pullys. I have SPAL electric fans & electric fuel pump. No power windows, no heat, no ac, radio (doesn't work but looks good ). With an Interstate battery.
