Default Front End rebuild cost?

I have to get new tires on my car and will most likely need a wheel alignment. I sure before even going in they are going to say they cannot do it because my bushings and such are dry cracked. So may question is what should i have to replace and how much should it cost?

Any help please

Thanks
Jim

I am looking to do mine this Winter and hoping to get away with it for about $150 in Parts ...
Get one of the Kits from Mid America or somewhere ....
Who has the best Kit for Bucks......
Just gonna use the car on the street ..No Autocrossing or anything like that ...

My mechanic quoted me somewhere in the neighborhood of $800.+ to rebuild my front suspension. It's something like $200 in parts, and $600.+ in labor because he'd rather have a root canal than take on the joy of rebuilding the suspension.

VBP has a great front end rebuild kit has Everything you need it was $285 for the rubber. I did my own work but I did ask a shop and they quoted 14 hours at $50 an hour.
All the hard work was definitely worth it.

Poly or rubber, less than 300 in parts, this is including the ball joints and everything else you could possibly need...

Take your time over the winter, disassemble everything , clean it all and re-assemble...it's not that difficult...

I took tons of photos during my re-build... email me with any questions...no problem at all....

Just don't waste your money on labor... they're going to rip you off anyway...

Vette Brakes & Products is THE source for suspension products. a lot of the stuff ecklers and mid-america sells is VBP stuff anyway. you just pay more by buying it from them.

a few years back i decided to have mine rebuilt with poly. bought the poly front bushing kit with tie rod ends, etc. think i paid several hundred dollars for it. went to a reputable shop. they made the mistake of quoting me a firm price of $600 to do the job. they got raped. they worked on it for about 2 1/2 weeks. old suspension parts can be a real bear to get off.

try to get a quote up front that they'll stick to. if they bill you by the hour don't be surprised if it comes out north of 1000 for labor. its a big job.

If you get the $200 bushing kit it will come with all bushings for the front and the rear.

You may also need balljoints, tierod ends, idler arm.
You could just go ahead and replace these, but it may not be needed.

I did the bushings, balljoints, shocks on my 69 a few months ago.

It's not that hard of a job, but it will take a while.

in 96 i paid $180 for a poly bushing rebuild kit from Zip(X-mas special), $90 for 2 460 springs from VBP, $25 to the machine shop for pressing old bushings out ,new bushings in, another $50 for 2 new shocks. basically, $350 and I did the rest of the work myself and it really was some of the easier work i've done on my vette

Question who makes the parts in these kits? Are they Moog,TRW, McQay -Norris, Chop Suey, etc I have had luck with them but also heard of wrong parts in kits on more then one order. I like Moog the best but they're also the most expensive. Had a NAPA brand lower ball joint wear out in 18k miles.
