A friend of mine has a '72 Vette that need the heater core replaced.
My question is do you have to take the dash off to do it . I told him
I don't think you have to , I told him I would check it out for him.
Thanks for your help in the pass , information has help me solve a
number of problems .

I am not certain if the 72 is like my 68, but I have A/C and I had to remove the passenger side dash to get at the chamber that houses the heater core. I have hear that on non A/C cars the heater core can be removed from the engine side.
A/C has to come out thru the cabin side--non A/C can be done through the engine compartment. To get mentally prepared it helps to give yourself a frontal labotomy and insert your left small toe into the your right ear if it has A/C. No not really just some patience--it seems to me Juliet has a nice thread on this with pics and all some time ago--anyone remember?
Tips
1. Remove the passenger seat
2. Pressure test new core
3. New hoses if needed at same time
4. Make sure all vac doors open and close properly before sealing everything back up
5. New seals and gaskets in heater box at same time( Doc Rebuild has a nice kit with great pictures for that)
I did mine a couple of years ago and can't seem to remember everything I did--will add more as my "Alzheimers gets better"
