We bought a new house three months ago. It sits on top of a hill on 10 acres, overlooking a long terraced slope leading to a lake which is frozen over, the perfect place to ride sleds. My son and his friends were sleigh riding and skiing down the serious hills. I saw a bunch of the neighborhood kids, all 10 to 13 years old watching them sledding and I invited them over. Much to my surprise, all the little guys wanted to see in my garage first because they had always seen my Vettes from a distance but never up close. When I opened the three garage doors, the little guys just stood there in awe, staring at the spotless 2002 Electron Blue Z06 and Miglia Red 71 coupe. They wanted to get up close and see them. I figured these little guys would be all over the snowy slopes riding their sleds but I was mistaken. After 10 minutes of getting introduced to the cars, I asked them if they wanted to ride their sleds. After a pause, they said they guessed so. One little guy about 11 said beamingly, "Someday I am going to have a Corvette, a Corvette just like this one!" as he walked backwards out of the garage. Gentlemen, the fire is lit, another young enthusiast has been born.
Went out visiting last night (Christmas eve) in the vette. Parked outside my friends place and the neigborhood kids all came running up to have a look. Almost had to ask them to step back so the drool didn't land on the paint
It never ceases to amaze me that kids love these C'3s so much. All the kids in the neighborhood wave when I go by and when I'm sitting or driving beside other cars in traffic, the little ones always have their faces pressed against the window looking at the vette. It always brings a smile to my face and a warm feeling in my heart! Merry Christmas!
when i didn't have a garage last year (summer/fall) i would work on my car in the driveway....... i lived on a corner lot so the drive was on the side as opposed to the front..... i would be working on the car and the local kids would always stop and ask questions and hang out for a few minutes...... i had some old school guys stop by also and they would ramble on about all hot rods they had........ the cops would even stop in the middle of the road and talk for 10-15 minutes and would always drive by at night to make sure my car was ok....... even though i was stripping the paint and interior and doing some body work, people still apprecited it........ i had one kid ask me if my car's body was rusting....i had some krylon brown primer on it.... i had to educate the young kid for a minute and showed him what fiberglass was all about......... he would stop by at least twice a week and just look at the car for a few minutes............... i can't wait till i get this project done......hopefully by summer if all goes well.....
