Default Sport Mirror Question

Hey, as you may or may not know, we are gettin the 77 repainted. It now has the chrome mirrors, but I like the look of the sport mirrors better. I have a set of mirrors off my 1976 Chevy Nova I junked many years ago(dont ask why I kept them I don't know). Are the mirrors off the Nova the same as the optional sport morrors on the Vette? They look the same so I can't tell.

Thanks

I cant answer your question about the mirrors. I do like your change of mirrors to the sport mirrors though. With the chrome bumper vettes, I think the chrome mirrors augment the car, and with the urethane/soft bumper vettes, they look good with the sport mirrors. In esscence the mirrors match the bumpers.

Hope it turns out good.

I have never been satisfied with my chrome stock mirrors (added the RH one) , but have not found any decent replacements.

At 80 mph or so, the driver's side one is in motion; wish they were more substanially attached.

Does anyone know of good replacement mirrors?

You might do a search on the forum. There was a post about 3 weeks ago about this. In that thread, a member stated that the Corvette sport mirrors had a base that was longer than the base on the other sport mirrors that were available on GM passenger cars. Something to do about needing the height to clear the rear fender peaks on the C3. This was news to me as I had stashed a couple of GM passenger sets for future use. Guess I will be looking for a set off of a C3.

I dont know the years and body styles but their were only two typs of sport mirrors made, tall and short. Our cars take the tall base mirrors. I think the larger cars like the delta 88 used the tall ones and the monty's used the short ones. I dont know the exact differance in hight.
I did a search a few months ago and came up with this info on this forum by a member here but I dont remember his screen name.
