If the car is only 10 minutes away it wouldn't hurt to go look at it. Take some pictures of the damage so that you can post them here. From the picture on ebay, if the hood is buckled up there is probably pretty extensive damage. Fender, frame, suspension, bumper structure, etc. may be damaged. The total is probably over $2,500 and it will take a while to fix it. For a daily driver I would have to say pass. Even if the car was in running condition, a 27 year old car is an iffy proposition for a daily driver.

two weeks ago there was 76 with no damage inthe paper and they were asking 3600.....in this area 3000- 4000 gets you a beater but one without body damage....
$4000 and body damage. From the photo, the hood looks tilted up toward the window, so there must be some big damage to the front end. That may end up costing you at least what you paid for the car. Unless you have body work skills, and painting skills, you might be better off buying a car that is already running for a daily driver.
If the seller is telling the truth (not likely) and it is $2500 to repair damage, plus $4000 purchase price equals total of $6500 you can buy a pretty nice 77 for $7500 that's good to go no waiting on repairs. I would steer clear of this seller seems to be hiding something.
If the car is 10 minutes from you....go see it! Drive by, ring the bell, make up a story that you "heard a Vette's for sale"...whatever! But DON"T buy before inspection. Word Up!

P.S. My name is Eddie Pavett. I was denied the vanity plate for my 72 that said Eddyvet. HEY...I thought of it first.
Make an apointment to see it, bypass the greedy nephew, go right to the uncle and make a resonable offer once the auction ends based on the real damage. 77s have some special parts, it may be worth fixing, or it may be worth parting out.
No way I buy based on the 1 photo and Ebay description-and sellers answers to questions.
