Dec 12th, 1977 here, I had figured mine was an early 78 according to the other things I found while working on the car. Great info and Thanks!

According to the calculator, June 3, 1975.

Gee, just about the time I was graduating from high school.

G'day,
Trim Plate says J03 which is May 3, and the computer also says May 3 1974, so it appears accurate. Trouble is, mine has been fitted with a 1975 L48 engine sometime before I got her. The correct engine should have stamped on it V****CLD for a 1974 L82 automatic. The build date for the engine, the ****, would be 0503 IF it was built on the same day as the car. As this wouldn't happen in real life, what do you think the engine build date should be? If it was built on say April 28, then the # would be V0428CLD plus the chassis #.

The reason I ask is that I would be interested in putting a "correct" engine into the car, and it would be handy to know the right serial # so I could re-stamp the block after I machine the old numbers off. Any thoughts on this?

Regards from Down Under

John, my '74's body build date is B08, which was Sept 8 of '73 & from a letter from GM, it was completed Sept 11, 1973. My engine stamp pad reads V0801CLA(engine assembled August 1, 1973), 41 days BEFORE the car was actually built.
