Okay, so I need to get a nice chrome air cleaner from my brand new Street Avenger 670 (the Edelbrock one I have now won't fit). I was looking at this one, seems reasonable to go with another Holley part:
The question is, does it really matter performance-wise what filter you go with? Is it really worth it to shell out the extra money for a K&N filter or something? My instincts and experience tell me not at all, but I wanted to get some C3 guys' input...TIA.
You might be looking at it from the wrong perspective. A K&N might not show a huge power gain, but they claim to filter more particles than a foam or paper element. So it's very cheap insurance for your engine.
I'm running a 670 Avenger and have topped it with a 14" x 3" drop-base, offset cleaner. It's sitting on top of an Elderbrock EPS manifold and I have ZERO cleaner-to-hood clearance.

I've heard several people claim that K&N's filter less than a normal filter... I don't think there's really anything wrong with the stock filters. Modern cars still use that type, and their engines last longer than ours ever will.
