Default Brake Pads

Just finished replacing the brake caliper pistons & seals. The old calipers had leaked badly, to the point that brake fluid was on the pads. I cleaned the pads with brake cleaner and the pads looked good. After the second bleeding of the brake system the brakes work, but the pedal is not as hard as before. I am wondering if the pads, which were also new, < 4000 miles, need a period to break-in since they were cleaned and now are positioned differently on the rotors. I don't believe the pads need to be replaced. Any comments?

I don't think that the pads would make the brake pedal harder or softer whether or not they were worn. You could still have air in the system. Did you have regular brake fluid in the system and change to silicone while replacing the brakes? I have heard that the silicone will feel that way but I haven't switched yet so I'm not certain that this is correct. Have you checked to make sure there are no leaks? If you have no leaks and all the air is out of the system you could have fluid bypassing internally; which could mean a bad master cylinder.

Keep bleeding it. You probably have some bubbles left. Try tapping the calipers with a rubber mallet while bleeding to dislodge the bubbles.

I agree, keep pumping and as stated above and tap the calipers inside and out, you will notice bubbles come out.....
