Default Stereo Pics?????????

Hello all,

Currently trying to lay out the stereo instalation in my wifes '68 vert. She's getting a single 10" sub two 6x9s and a power amp for the rear of the car. What I'm looking for is some pictures of simular instalations.

I've searched this forum but havent found any references to any of the early C3s with modern stereos in them.

Can you help?

Regards,
Heli

I built a "false floor", about 3" high in the back of my 68 vert. It has a hatch with 3 10" subs over the battery box/jack/storage comparment location. The back of the floor slopes down and 2 wedge shaped 6X9 speaker boxes are built into it in each corner. Disk changer and Amp is mounted between. I also added an angled box with 2 4" speakers on the console between the seats. It's contoured to sit flush between the seats and flat with the rear storage area. The boxes and floor are made from wood and glass and cotour to the shape of the car. 2 4 X 6s repaced the original kick plate speakers and 2 additional tweeters sit on my dash.
I could scan and send you a pic or 2.

Gary,

Yes I am very interested in a few pics of the back. I was wondering if the 6x9's could be wedge mounted in the corners without interfearing with the rear deck lid. As for the sub still at a loss but would like to see some pics of your for ideas. Sounds good so far but we only have one sub. (at least for the moment)

Regards,
Heli

I have built a box for a 12'' sub to fit into my jack compartment. I upholstered it with black vinyl and have a piece of lexan covering over the top of the sub to protect it. This sub is just for fitment purposes. I am getting a P Miller to replace it.

Mines a completely enclosed box made of 3/4" plywood. I even cauked the edges shut. If you dont enclose the speakers, you sacrifice sound quality and bass.

It seems helix60 and I have similar projects. While I have the interior gutted on my 69, I would like to upgrade the stereo and speakers also. The original am/fm radio still works, but sounds terrible. I really don't want to modify the bezel, so what radio will fit? I'm looking for options outside what the Corvette catalogs offer.

Also, I am considering eliminating the rear fender antenna with one of the under body types. Does anybody have any experience with them. I will be stopping by the audio store soon, but thought to ask here first.
