charging problem
any help out there, i have a 68 427/390. a few weeks ago it wouldn't start, battery said 12 volts so i replaced the starter. no help. took the battery in and it had no cranking amps so i bought a new one. returned home and installed it, drove it to the gas pump and home, next time out out, it wouldn't start. The new optima was melted together. replaced the voltage regulator and battery, cranked it, removed the cable and it died. replaced alternator same problem. found out that i have smoked another optima battery, replaced it today and still no charge. the white wire on the voltage reg has no power to it. is this correct? is there a fusable link in this system, any other possibilities?
