I have a 79, In painted them black. I read spmewhere that from the factory they came 1/2 and 1/2.. 1/2 black, 1/2 stainless. I have seen this config on cars so I believe it to be true. I personally don't like it and shot mine black. Someone else may chime ion onb the two coplor trim as well. Sorry, I can't remember where I read it, but it was in some corvette numbers book.
