if you're converting from stock steel spring to fiberglass you're probably also going to want to replace some hardware such as end link bolts and bushings. vette brakes and products sells some kits. they aren't the cheapest but vb has an a++++ reputation. also, if you don't match your rear shocks to the spring you're going to get a bouncy ride with fiberglass. try: www.vbandp.com

I'll make someone a deal on my 420# Vette Brakes one...

You get me one of the 396# 5 leaf steel springs from Vette Brakes that fits stock control arms, I'll trade you my 'glass one. They are $139.95.

VB wants $289 for a spring alone and $329 for kit.

By going back to a steel one, it allows me to add leaves as needed for my dragstrip duties!

Sharkman,

I can get you a composite rear spring for $269.95. This would be the spring only with no hardware. This price is using your CF discount with us. If you can show me an advertised price better than this I will price match it for you. What rate were you thinking of for the spring ?

Bought mine from VB&P(Tony was very helpful in getting the right kit for what I wanted the car to handle and look) ----"no problems"-----NO RIDE HEIGHT ISSUES(I used my stock end-spring bolts...28"---lower than the steel spring 28 1/2") ALSO, they have a GREAT tech. department(Robin). .........YOU USUALLY GET-- WHAT-- YOU PAY FOR(you buy CHEAP crap--you get CHEAP crap )!!!!!!

sharkman76...

I also paid about $200. But that was a while ago. Be aware that there are issues regarding the mounting method. I have had to repair several rear ends for customers because of the smaller diameter bolts & thread inserts used by some manufacturers kits. My advice is to stick with the factory size mounting bolts and spring width, and stay away from the wider spings requiring smaller bolts & inserts. This is assuminmg you still have the factory size bolts & threads.

You have to ask.... they don't always volunteer the info.

I have had the standard width spring with factory mounting hardware on both of my Vettes.... one (the 66) since the FG spring came on the market.... and have had no problems with ride, breakage, or rear end thread woes. You will have to change your shocks.

I have seen FG springs mounted with the vendor supplied/recommended hardware fail due to poor mounting design. The spring width did not match the distance between the bolts, and the spring shifted no matter how tight you cranked the bolts. 1/16" is all it takes, and the car gets squirrely.

There are only 2 companies making fiberglass springs for the C3; VBP and Muskegon Brake. I am running the VBP and would recommend it. I have a Muskegon Brake spring gathering dust in my barn; I tried it on my car and took off due to ride height issues. Its like new however, since I wouldn't feel right to charge for something that doesn't work as it should, I'll give it to anyone that wants it if your willing to pay shipping costs.

Kid,
I'm probably interested. Did it ride too high? I actually need more height, I've got 275/60/15 DR's on the rear. What spring rate is it?
Thanks.

73jst4fun,

If you have 550 front coil spring and run a 360 this would be our Street and Slalom System and a great match for a perfromance driven ride. If you go with the 330 spring your ride will be a little softer. In most cases we would match your Vette's horsepower to the rear spring rate. If you have a high horsepower Vette go with a 360, if you a running stock or close to stock go with the 330 spring. There will be no difference in the price no matter which one you pick.
