A few days after breaking in my cam I was trying to get my carb half way tuned when I started the car up there was a loud rattling coming from the engine. It was kind of hard to pinpoint (I had an exhaust leak too) and I feared I had wiped another cam lobe When I took the valve cover off I saw that one adjusting nut for the rocker arm had backed itself out completly and the rocker had come completly off the pushrod. Luckily all seems OK no bent pushrods or wiped lobes I double nutted the valve after setting lash again but thats the second one I've had to do that too. Is there anything I can use to keep these rockers on and set other then the adjusting nuts? Any advice would be appreciated I don't want to screw up another cam.
Same thing happened to me, and I solved this problem ONCE AND FOR ALL with "cool nuts". Another brand is called "nylocks". It's a locking rocker nut that uses an allen head set screw. Available through Summit, Jegs, & Compitition Products (of Wisconson) .

"Poly-Locks".... they are retained with a set screw. Or just a new nut if the stud is still good. The factory nuts have a limited number of installs before new ones are needed.
The nuts were new with the new rocker arms. I'll look for the poly locks and cool nuts ( I think I saw those in the catalog). Its good to know someone else has had this problem I thought it was just me.
