Default Help with Carb

Here is a picture of the front drivers side corner of my quadrajet. Am I correct in stating that this is the port that the vacuum advance for the distributor connects to. Also can someone tell me why this port appears to be blocked and should I try to unblock it. Thanks

any unused ports need to be sealed or "capped" to prevent vacuum leaks.

if pollution controls have been removed from your engine it would explain why you have some unused vacuum ports.

originally vacuum hose should have run from distributor to front passenger side port of carb. theoretically you can use any port for distributor vacuum. i use the rear port on my 79, the one next ot the brake booster.

Any vacuum source? Or just a vacuum source off the carb?

if this is for the distributor it should come off of the carburetor and this port should have no vacuum at idle. this is called ported and the vacuum comes when you accelerate and different parts of the carb open.. this ported tube will be on the top half of your carb...(as opposed to direct vacuum or unported)

just looked at the quadrajet on my 77 that i took off and my dist vac hose was on the drivers side in about the same location...let me see if i have any pics..

you have a PM with the pictue...i couldnt reduce it for some reason
