Default 81 Air Induction scoops

In my 81 my air filter sits inside the standard piece that has the two induction tubes running through the fender and under the front to pull in cold air, however this seems pretty restrictive for air to only be coming in from two locations.

Would it be better to get an exposed 360 degree air flow filter to pull in warmer air in larger quantities or should I stick with the more restrictive Cold air factory induction?

The design of the twin snorkel system is very good, it manages to get alot more cool air (dense air) than an open 360 degree filter. As long as you have all the components connected to the system and its working correctly, I would leave well alone. The only thing I would say is it doesn't as good as a nicely unclutered stand alone air filter.
