I got a CD player for Christmas for my '74. I am going to re-work the console bezel to accept the CD player, but wanted some advise on speaker size and placement. I can build an enclosure for the rear speakers if that is the best route.
Also should I put new speakers in the original dash locations? Will speakers fit in the kick panels ? IF so, what size.
Any and all suggestions welcome. She currently has a cassette player. THe radio doesn't work and I only have three tapes !!! I am so ready for new music !!!

like you, i had the problem of no music, Nothing, Zero, Nada...lame! so i got a cheap deck 15x4 watt max lol and i had Circuit Sh1tty install my system. BAD CHOICE. anyways i have pioneer 4x6's up front on the top of the dash and Two 10 inch subs in the back; flipped so the bottom of the subwoofer boxes face forward and the subs face upwards towards the back window. it works pretty good so as now to rattle your back to death. then i hooked some pioneer 6x9's up and made some crappy looking boxes and they just sit on the rear doors for the battery and the jack compartment.
Pro to the 6x9's: repositionable when you have extra cargo.
Cons: everytime you take a turn really fast the crash into each other and there goes half of your sound until you turn them right side up again.
