Took the tour twice, once for the C4 and another time for the C5, plan to see the C6's being made soon. I think the tour and museum are well worth a day of vacation.

You can see it all "in depth" and take a bunch of pics in an afternoon. I was just there after Christmas and it was worth the trip. There is a Vette City Flea market across the road with lots of Corvette-related memoriabilia. You can also take a tour of the GM assembly plant. The plant was closed for tours when I was there so check with the NCM before you go. I am into C4s and had the thrill of (don't tell on me now) actully caressing the fender of the only 1983 Corvette in existence! There are other things to do in the area too. Lots of Civil War history, cave tours, etc. Get hold of the Bowling Green Chamber of commerce so they can send you some info. I think you would have a good time spending a few days in the area. You can always visit the NCM twice and take pics of things you missed on the first go-round.

I went a little over a year ago and spent the entire day between there and the assembly plant. Very cool and well worth it IMHO.

Default Is it worth it?????????

In June 2003, I flew from Melbourne, Australia to L.A. and DROVE to Bowling Green and I reckon it was worth every penny. Why not ask around your local Corvette community and try to organise a caravan and go en masse? Sounds like a fun thing to do and even if you go sol, you won't regret it. Damn, I'd sure like to do it again myself.

Regards from Down Under

A week's vacation =- be hard to spend that much time in BG, KY.

We took a week or so back in Oct. of 2003.

Drove up from the MS Gulf Coast thru AL, then over to Chattanooga, TN (Aquarium and Imax theater visit) and finally to the Cherohala Skyway in Western North Carolina.
Picked a nice B&B called the Blue Boar Inn for the night.

Next morning we drove the Skyway back West towards TN and stopped at every scenic outlook. It was WONDERFUL.

THEN, we shot north on 411 (I believe,) and tore the hell out of the famous Tail of the Dragon. Had enough time to drive it twice before going to Nashville for the night.
We stayed the next 3 or 4 days in nashville seeing the splenders of the music city, catching some gigs by friends of mine, and being tourists. (and playing on a few pre war Martin Acoustic guitars that were worth over 30thousand dollars)

Of course we spent a day in Bowling Green. Its a quick drive up from Nashville.
The museum was a morning event, the lunch, and then we toured the plant.

Best as I can remember, there isn't a whole lot to do in the BG, KY area unless you are there for horses or the cavern tours. (please correct me if Im wrong here)

So, if I had a week - Id fly to Nashville, see the local sights and spend the night, next day RENT a Corvette and go drive the Tail of the Dragon and spend the night somewhere around Robinsville, NC.
Cruise the Skyway too!
(both roads end up in Robinsville)

Day three I'd head back up the interstate (or pic a less beaten path) and get back to Nashville and catch a show, tour the parthenon, hit music row, etc and cruise up to Bowling Green and get a cheap hotel for the night.
9 am the (day 4) next morning Id hit the Plant and Museum as well as the used COrvette store thats right there across from the Museum.
That will eat up most of the day. Especially if you take lots of pictures.
Eat a meal at the cafe on the highway between the plant and the NCM.

Then I'd cruise back to Nashville for another nightly event (maybe someone is playing at the Blue Bird Cafe), a good night's sleep, turn in the Vette, and fly on back home on Day 5.

But hey, THATS just me! hahahaha
