My car needs to be dropped slightly. Planning on cutting the front springs as per other posts here.
Question on the rear. Will longer bolts alone lower the car 1" or so? My rear spring looks like crap, so I will probably replace it while under there. Can using a different spring lower the car?
I also need to lower my Rear by about 1 or 2 inches. My local shop told me that there is a longer bolt they simply install which lowers it by 1". I plan on doing this sometime in the future. My front is ok. Lowering my rear 1 or 2 inches (full tank or not) will make the Car look even both front and rear. I'm wondering what it may do to the handling of the car??

74FLCONV,
Yes, longer spring bolts will lower the rear of your Vette. The stock GM spring bolts were 6 1/2" long. We offer an 8" long grade 8 spring bolt for rear ride height adjustment. Depending on rubber or poly bushings it would run for about $ 26.96 - $ 22.46. As for your front coil springs remember that when cutting them down 1/3 of a turn equals 1 inch of ride height so don't over shorten.
Just make sure you don't use longer than 8" bolt or you'll risk having the spring end puncture the tire sidewall. You can use a 9" bolt with 17" wheels.
If your old spring is old and sagging it will certainly lift the back of your car up to where it belongs. The fiberglass springs tend to lift the car even more than a new stock rear spring. I have a fiberglass monospring from vbp, and the 8" lowering bolts also from vbp and its just about perfect for my tastes.
It's a cinch. I droped my front from 28 to 26" and the rear from 28 to 26.5" all within a day. the VDB 8" bolts are simple and straight forward even for a Marine. the front springs are more tedious but I'd caution to undercut and see where you settle out rather than cut too much and be *** out. IM me if you have questions.

lowering the car also lowers the center of gravity, which is a good thing. you may not want to make it look completely even front-to-back, though; leave a little more room in the back for the spring to compress when you stand on it, since the back tends to move around more than the front. an inch or so difference should still look okay, without giving you the "ghetto wedge" high-rear-low-front look.
Will a different spring change ride height or is it all in the bolts?

D, Get in touch with Tony of VB, He'll set you up correctly, if your still running with the stock front coil springs you can replace them with the 460's and a new 330 mono spring in the rear and 8" bolt kit will be a big differance in the ride and handling......go TR South....
