Depends on how long your going to not start the engine or move car. For a long perior of time I would have 1. Changed oil and filter, greased all fittings. 2.Placed Jackstands under suspension to remove weight from tires to prevent flat spots. 3. Remove spark plugs , spray a little Marvel oil in each clyinder turn over a few revs, replace plugs. 4. Put a fuel stabilizer in fuel tank . 5. Either run engine till some of the stabilizer gets into carb or disconnect fuel line to fuel pump and run car untill the carb runs dry. 6.Top off all fluids 7. Check anti freeze. 8. loosen fan belts. 9. Remove battery and keep charged with a battery tender. 10.Wax body, clean interior, if leather apply leather treatment. 11. Seal all weatherstrps and rubber with favorite saelant. (Amor -all). 12. Put desecant bags in interior to absorb moisture. 13. Cover car.
This might seem like a lot of work but you asked for the best way.
