Hey if you can get him to Sparks or Northern California I would be happy to fill up the back area of my 69 BB with Beer and let Lars have his way with my motor!
Most forum members know Lars "IS" the man when it comes to squeezing the most HP out of your Corvette.
First off, Lars is a nice guy.
He is also very experienced in tuning Qjets and distributors as he used to train mechanics for GM on them. i.e. GURU
The Tuning For Beer tours are his way of visiting all over the country(should that be world?) He packs his tune up kit and parts for the cars he is working on and flies in.
I believe his air fares are paid for by the group whose cars he is working on and they also provide accomodation and beer.
The result is many happy campers with faster , more reliable Vettes and everyone gets to meet a real nice guy with the best tuning hammer that side of the pacific.
I met Lars in 2003 when he offered to put our little tour group up for a few days. Many beers, margheritas and short, fast drives later I consider him a friend. Hell, we were friends when we walked in the door.

do you know how we go about getting him to no-cal? i would definately attend,....with 30 pack in hand
who is Lars and what is Lars tuning for beer tour?
"Lars" is an enigma....the "Bigfoot" (Santa Claus?) of the C3 forum. No one has actually seen him. The story goes like this: He comes to your home (on YOUR dime), drinks all your beer, your neighbors beer and sends you out for more when the entire block is dry. Then, upon waking up (hung-over) the next morning, you discover your Corvette (mysteriously) has been tuned-up and is purring when it was chugging and missing only 24 short hours earlier...
I hear there are pictures of this "Lars" somewhere, tuning a carburetor with a 3 lb. SLEDGE HAMMER!
I've never had the privalge of meeting the man. From what I can tell he's the guru of setting up these cars. If I lived near him I'd bring a case of beer and just watch him work .
I don't need much tuning, but I'd be in if you got him to come to northern/central california. However I'm 19, so it would be the "tuning for lottery tickets, draft bills, and cigarettes tour"

im workin on gettin lars to the sac tahoe area, but i think its gonna be a while, with all the snow we got here
Lar's doesn't like us to post his picture, but since it's been awhile, and there's so many that haven't been blessed to have him drink all of your beer. I thought it was time to post it again.

He rebuilt my q-jet and my car starts and runs great. He is the man.....or the GOD as his picture above indicates.
I just adjusted the ignition on my 68 BB to Lars's specs and found a differnt motor in my car. Lars presently has my 850 CFM Holley double pumper for rebuilding and tuning and I can't wait to install it once it's back.
I first met Lars when driving through CO in 2001. I had just done a cam swap at my brother-in-law's in Denver and got in touch with Lars via the forum. He had never met me before but invited me out to his house for a tuning session. He did a great job and I learned a lot.
I can't wait till he arrives in June for his NE stop on the tour to do a little more tweaking on my car.
I just hope Lar's doesn't see this thread. After seeing the picture I posted, he might never get around to learning how to help us tune the crossfire 82's.
