Was waken last night to the door bell ringing and banging on the door at 2am, only to find a fireman telling me to leave my house because the neighbor right next to me ( zero lot line) was on fire. Ran up to the upstairs and looked out the window and saw high flames 10 feet from my house! This is how the order to leave as followed, get the wife out,CK grabed the cats,(scared the sh** out of them) and threw them in the minivan CK. Then as fast as could started the Corvette (Chambed Exhaust, 2am mind you) and drove it to safety. All this within about 2 minutes. After the fire dept. kicked some butt it was all clear, for my house. Neighber didn't fair so well. Just a reminder, have a plan in place and practice "operation save vette and loved ones".
A friend of mine had a similar incident.
The difference was it was the paper boy that woke them up at 4:00am and told them that their garage was on fire!
It did catch the house.
They lost everything, except the most important. They all got out OK.
Warning, if you ever use lint seed oil (not sure of spelling), it will spontaneously combust if you put the rags in a box afterwards. That's what the firemen found.

Oily rags need to go in a metal container with a metal top... At least thats what I've always heard.
