Default 200-4R Wiring

I know several of the C-3 members have swapped for the 200-4R trans so thought I'd post this here too. Please see http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...post1549478082

You might have better luck asking on turbobuick.com Transmission Talk forum. I can't think of anyone that is using the lockup converter with an EFI setup. Most of us have the aftermarket standalone wiring setup which switches it to ground based I think.

I posted on turbo buick first but still no rplies, guess they all have the stock wiring so can just plug it in.

I guess I may just have to pull the pan and look.

My spare car has a 200-4R (1983 Cadillac) and I have the service manual for it at home. If 1979toy can't find his I'll see if my manual shows the wiring (it should).

If I think what you are asking:
Red wire (forth gear lock-up only): power from fuse box to brake switch (normal closed) - from brake switch to trans. The 12 volts is continuos to the trans unless the brake pedal is applied.
Blue wire: power from brake switch to toggle switch -from switch to trans. When switch is in "on" position the lock-up convertor will lock up in any gear. (I didn't hook this up)

Has your trans been converted to always lock in 4th gear (I think it is an internal wiring change as that's what the TCI web site shows for their forth-gear lockup kit)? I have three wires, one should be power(?), the other two are 4th gear indicator line and TCC lock. My plug has purple, green and brown. My Accel Gen 7 DFI has control ciruits to lock TCC in only forth, or in any gear at less than a specified throttle.

Sorry I'm late, I got grabbed to move a dresser as soon as I got home.
The information that I have does not have the wire color codes in it. It only says to hook one wire here and another wire there without giving any indication of which wire is which.

I got my trans from BTO so i don't know exactly what they changed but yes it will go into lock-up as soon as it shifts into 4th. I put in a rocker switch so I can use 4th without it locking if I I am driving around town.

Does it by chance list the wires by their connetor letter, A,B,C,D? I found some stuff on the TCI site that I think may be what I need, but want to cross-check first since theirs is really instructions for their kit to bypass the ECM and always lock up in 4th gear.

They have:
A - +12V
B - TCC Ground, switch to ground to lock (?)
D - 4th gear indicator, goes to ground when in 4th (I think)

OK, now we have apples and apples.

A = Purple
B = Green with white stripe
D = Brown with black stripe

As you look directly at the side of the transmission you see;

* D
B A

This information comes directly from my TCI plug.

I hope that will get you moving along with your project.

Thanks. That color sequence matches my plug, and I think I've confimed that A & D are the TCC solenoid (per the GM diagram on the Montecarlo site posted by redwingvette and from the hot rodders forum), not A & B shown on th TCI site (I think they modify the wiring with their 4th gear lockup kit). I'll do a continuity check on the trans just to make sure as I should be able to see the TCC solenoid circuit, while the 4th gear switch should test open without the trans running.
