A6 compressor RPM range?
How many guys who have the old style compressor (hooked up and running) drive it hard when the A/C is on? My Stroker doesn't go past 5200 RPM, at least not intentionally but I wonder ...
Today I forgot the A/C was on and smoked 'em hard, then followed on thru the gears getting on the freeway by 'getting on it' real hard.
The A/C still works but I wonder if you guys shut it off when you get on it, or does it matter? Last summer I rebuilt the A/C system with all new parts, including the pump. Not reman, but new. I doubt that anything I do in the 5K RPM range is going to hurt it, but I'd like opinions.
5000 is fine. I believe GM got worried above 6000. My 71 had a 5600 redline and factory A6 AC, so GM felt 5600 was OK. Personally I turn the AC off before going WOT since it eats 20-30 hp.

And I do too. Normally ... but I'm out of practice! Its been so cold, wet and rainy here (yea I know ) for three months that the car has rarely been driven at all. I felt like I was in Chicago without the snow!
But today, it's 80 degrees and no traffic because it was a holiday. It would not have been right to leave the car in the garage today!

A question- does your car have some kind of a solenoid that kicks the throttlr up when A/C is switched on?
