I had a chat with one of the guys at a local speed shop.. He said that you can't go over 7 psi in fuel pressure on a Holley carb without risking to blow the power-valves...
Is that true??
Anybody with experiences with fuel pressure above 7 psi with a Holley carb??
My Barry Grant says not to go over 7 so I think that would be about right.
I'm running mine at 6 and it seems to do fine. If your leaning out badly, maybe 7 but I think it would be alot better to increase the volume and or the float level, instead of the pressure.
You can check it by reading the plugs when you get it going. What your looking for optimly is a solid light soot color around the ring on the base of the plug. If you have breaks in the soot where you see bare metal your too lean and a dark heavy soot on the ring is too rich.
You can get stronger needles and seats that can handle 8 to 9lbs pressure. power valves have nothing to do with fuel pressure.Go with as high as you can before blowing by the seats.Every pro stocker runs 9lbs.
