Ok...I finally got the WC T5 I was looking for to convert into my 71 small block. Question is...what clutch, flywheel, bellhousing, shifter and anything else I should use or will need for the conversion. Appreciate any help!
It will bolt up to a vette bellhousing (at least it did to my 73) with a just a little grinding work on the trans. I was able to re-use my centerforce clutch. Am going to use a stock t-5 shifter but will prolly get a pro 5.0 shifter after working the bugs out. I had to cut the trans tunnel, shortened the drive shaft and am in the process of making a trans bracket. Have had a lot of snow and cold weather he in MI so haven't worked on my much lately.
BTW you can use a take apart yoke from a vette th350, perfect fit.
i could be wrong here, but im sure keisler will sell you individual parts from their swap kits. like the offset shifter so you dont have to cut the floor, and so on
I've done the swap before on a ford. I don't know much applies to vettes but with the ford getting a shifter package is well worth the money so that I didn't have to cut up the floor. I too used a th-350 yoke and it worked fine. THe th-350 yoke also fits the muncie with no problems. Believe it or not an 88 ford ranger transmission mount fits them, but i think that might be too tall to fit in the vette tunnel. One sure thing to do before installing the transmission, make 100% sure you have a World Class unit. Run the numbers if you bought it used, when i did the swap i found out that i had a non world class unit. It was behind a 300hp/300tq 302 ford and it lasted about a week before i lost 4th gear, about 3 weeks before i lost revers, and was rendered useless in about a month. The world class units are much better built, and yes they really do use atf as their transmission fluid.

When mounting the transmission trim the floor where the tower passes through, it involves only a light trimming but you want the rear of the transmission as high as possible. Just that is clears the tunnel but not by much. It is only a little cleaning up of the hole.]
Any camaro modern bellhousing will give you a donor bellhousing and I prefer the slave cylinder on the side and go with a hydraulic clutch over the mechanical one.
I have done 3 of these and keep the shifter in the middle and do a little modification to the shift plate.

Any camaro modern bellhousing will give you a donor bellhousing modern as in late camaro? or a manual bellhousing that woulod already be on my 71? and I prefer the slave cylinder on the side and go with a hydraulic clutch over the mechanical one. Can you tell me what all parts I would need to go hydraulic?

like, what kind of modification to the shift plate?
would love any more info or input you have for this project
