The original equipment included some naugahyde storage bags for the t-tops, one for each. The tops were then gently placed on top of each other and strapped down with a 3-point adjustable cargo strap, also factory equipment. I always placed a fender mat in between the tops to provide a little cushion. I am now storing my t-tops in a storage case that holds them both with a built-in pad for between the tops. These are available from most of the sponsors. It is a zippered case similar to a suitcase. The only drawback is it's a little on the heavy side with the tops inside, kind of awkward to handle.

I also have the naughahyde bags to put the t-tops in. Like the other posters replied, they have to go in laying on top of each other. I lay mine sideways in the back. That is, not facing the same direction that they would be orientated to on the car, but sideways from that.

And the tip about putting some extra padding between them makes a whole lot of sense to me. Thanks.

Having the glass tops..dont like to put them with like surfaces to each other..stack em one on top of the other..bottom/top..then buttom/top..will post a pick if I was to do like surfaces..the curves would be opposing each other..and would probably break a corner! Joe!

Hope this helps..Joe!

And just a gentle reminder for everyone... be careful with your tops!

On my 81 I carry a corvette affgan folded up in the back then when I store the tops I place the affgan between them and wrap the ends over the top of both, and strap them down. This way I don't carry the empty bags around all the time. Also the affgan comes in handy like when we go to the movies my GF can use it to keep warm in the over air conditioned movies.

In the rear storage area I have put rubber bumpers on the speakers and CD changer so the tops don't scratch or bump them.

Thanks everyone, when i was trying to figure this out i managed to place them on top of the wheelwells, they seemed to sit ok, but were a little unstable... (think if just stayed in the same orintation, but moved into the back, above the wheelwells)

It really seems that with minimal effort you could rig something that would allow you to store them that way and leave the whole cargo area free.

Anyway, just a thought

Eric
