I'm no expert, but I would let that one go,bud.I may get called on this, and I could be wrong, but I think they are restamped(not very good),and the owner knows this.
Just my .02,and you know what they say about opinions....

Well I asked him "if it is the original engine in the car", and said "the motor stamp doesn't look like it came from the factory that way". Lets see if he posts my question. Also he made a statement in his ad that it is 435 H.P. Is this a "true" statement according to Ebay criteria? Is it really a 435 HP?

Oh yeah....this is a no go,if you are looking for correct!I put my spare change in the KFC bucket during offering on Sunday am.This guy is bad! Nice car tho',if you would settle for a incorrect engine,or......if he would settle for a price for saling a car w/ a incorrect engine.

He replied to the question I asked. He said "it's the original block and hes going to clear this up by tomorrow on the Ebay ad." Hey that's why he wrote to me in an email. I can't say I believe him at all.

Nice car. Pretty sure this car is a restamp, the question is, were the original numbers restamped or "upgraded". Without the original build sheet, who knows? The trim tag also looks suspect to me, its too nice, and too much detail in the lettering, IMO.

I got a question for the numbers guys here...
What is the resale difference in that car numbers matching vs unmatching correct (correct motor/transmission, just not the matching numbers)

Thats a good question. For 2 cars in excellent condition, everything else being equal I would say 20K to 30K for a 435hp car. But with a 435 car just numbers matching alone is not enough of a comfort zone. It really needs paper to back it up (even though that can also be faked) The car in this thread if it was a real black car and a real 435 with docs and real matching motor should be around $65K+ in this condition maybe??? Just a educated guess

So youre saying its $35k difference for a documented #'s car that can be verified vs a correct car...?
Thirty five thousand dollars for a serial #....?

If you can't document a car its really no different than taking any 69 and dropping a 427 in it. There are advertised non-original 427's in the 20K range. Nice worked ones also. What else would it take to make it look and run like a 435. What do the carbs cost? A few thousand? You could build one. So that why everyone pays for originality. But its getting harder to tell if it really is or not. The forgers were getting real good in the 80's and 90's. Now everyone knows what to look for and everyone knows what everyone else is looking for........except the clown selling this car. But still some people will get fooled. But for the 40K he is up to now I'd say that is already more than someone should pay for this car.

Looks to me like a very early attempt at a restamp. Numbers aside, the broach marks don't look right. Looks like they go left to right thought they were supposed to go front to back. I'm kind of surprised that he didn't post the casting numbers for the block seeing he has a lot of the other numbers. Not saying this is not a nice car but before i shelled out 40K I would have someone look at it who really knows what they were looking at. Then without paper work this is always going to be a question no mater who owns it down the road.
