Default 1969 Baldwin Motion Phase III GT (ebay)

These don't come along every day...
I have no affiliation with this car.

Hi,
I'm not sure that I've ever seen photos of the exterior of a real car that look more like photos of a model than this one.
It's almost like the proportions have been played with a bit.
Maybe it's the size of the tires that throws things off?
Regards,
Alan

This was on ebay approximately one month ago and I can't remember what the final bid came to but it was in the six figures.

As Alan said, it definitely looks like a model! This is a living room (not suitable for the garage) piece for sure!

Still have this Motion handout from (I think) a B-J auction about 10 years ago...

Maybe not everyday, but this car has been for sale everyday for probably the last 3 years.

I built a model of this car. I'll post it. I made a custom 24th scale kit of it.

And by the way, its supposed to have headlight covers but they didnt add them during the resto and also the stripe going over the rear deck is not the correct width and shape as it was when the car was new. If you have the CARS magazine from 1970 you can clearly see the weird angle the stripe widens out to over the rear. In fact, it was like that on several of the phase III GT cars. The orange one with the Dodge Daytona gas cap is also supposed to have the wide stripe, I don't think it has the correct stripe today either.

Car has been at more than one auction in recent years. I saw it in the Star tent in Kissimmee in 2014.

I built this model almost 25 years ago.
Its not that great but it was fun to build.

it's amazing how one could take the best looking hood in Vette history ('67 Stinger) and turn it into that ugly looking thing ........my opinion of course ......

Hi,
Bid was $51,000 when I looked yesterday and is $66,000 today.
I wonder what the reserve is?
Regards,
Alan

M463,
I'm with you on the hood, and will add the gills (looks like they've been 'plumped-up' with silicone), and the scoops!

I think the car looks horrific and wouldn't pay 2 cents for it.
Why oh why would someone do this to a perfectly beautiful car??

Gotta remember the era Gents.....
Girder front end choppers were the rave.
Corvette Summer was cool.
2 cans of hair spray used per teenage girl on a Friday night..... Hey put that cigarette out!
Car is pretty ugly by todays standards but people bought them or Motion wouldn't have lasted.

Hi,
Marshal's right. That car's 'look' was popular a LONG time ago.
Also, to my eye, Mr. Rosen's sense of style wasn't very sophisticated!

Alan here is the real car couple years back .Up close it needs to be restored. Its been around to several auctions over the years.Last time I was at auction it got to $215k and did not sell. The mods done back in the day were done for a reason.Good was modified for ram air affect.Gills for better cooling in engine compartment.Upper side scoops for more air as large rear window created a lot of heat in the sun. These Motion Corvettes were bringing big money a few years back.
Wes

This is mine that I am working on

When I saw the first pic my thought was "240Z on steroids".

baldwin motion motors didn't endure. Cool car no less. Looks like a Datsun 240z with those headlight covers.

Iconic and extremely hyped back in the day. Motion benefitted from extremely good press reviews touting the performance over stock and company marketing. Dated now.

Also, I think the Motion cars were guaranteed to run in the 12's or you could get your money back.
