from Barrett Jackson. Spent all day there yesterday and it was great! The bidding was unreal; saw a group of earlier-year Vettes go for over $100K and the Old's F-88 Concept car go for over $3M. That was unbelievable. I was real happy to see the Callaway Speedster go for over $200K. My friend and I couldn't figure out what was getting into people bidding some of the cars. He deals in cars all the time and has been going to B-J for years and he said he's never seen anything like this -- cars that maybe worth $40K - $50K tops were going for $90K plus.
For me it was the most fun I've had in a long time; lots of great cars and non-stop excitiment. Only one down side, my digital sat on our Kitchen table all weekend -- both my wife and I thought the other had grabed it -- so no pictures, for now. Hopefully, my buddy will send some of the one's he took.

My wife was thinking for my birthday getting metickets to the auction when it comes to Florida. I've heard from people that they have a great time there. What kinda pass did you have??
My friend had buyer's passes (I think they are over $300 each, I didn't ask) and he got my wife & I guest passes, which got us everywhere except up on the stage.
It allowed us to get into the VIP areas with the buyers and we got to sit in the third row back from the stage with the other bidders. We also got into some areas where some cars were roped off from the normal public (you had to be with a buyer to get into these areas). I don't think the base pass gets you into some of these areas. But this was my first time and I'm not really sure what the base pass get you. As far as price, my friend was there all for the whole thing and had our passes waiting for us when we arrived, we didn't pay for them so I don't know how much they were. He's flying back to Hawaii early in the morning, so I'll ask him if he knows more about the difference in the passes and how much each of them are.
Guys, I watched all 24 hrs. of TV coverage and couldn't believe those prices !!! They said that a Buyers pass cost $350.00, w/bank verification of Funds.. The daily gate pass cost $35.00. That was wild during the sale of the Olds concept..

The entrance fees are getting expensive. The first time I went was about 7 years ago and it cost $10 to get in. Now it's $35.00. That's a 250% markup. I think that's outrageous.
I must have watched over twenty of the twenty four hours that was on Speed. Only disappointment was that it was not televised in HD I could not believe the $3,000,000.00 spent on the Olds Concept but when I heard who bought it money was no object. I have always wanted to go Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale, not West Palm because it has got to be the most amazing car show in the world. I am trying to convince my wife to cash in some frequent flyer miles and she can enjoy the fashion show and other events they have for the girls. BTW, were the bartenders as hot as they looked on TV.? and how bad were those rainstorms. A lot of trailer queens must have seen water for the first time Hope your friend can post pic's but thanks for the summary.

The rain was pretty bad when we got there on Saturday. We had gone out to some of smaller 'holding' tents when it started to hail and we had to wait about 10 minutes to get back to the main tent. Between the mud and the rain/hail, the detailers were busy. As far as the bartenders go, I only saw one and it was a guy -- we spent most of our time either watching the bidding or out under the tents looking at all the cars. Had I been able to spend more then a day there, I might have hung out the bar a little more, but I wanted to take in as many cars as I could. As far as the pictures go, I'm going to ask him to send some to me so I can post them.
Sounds like they've tighened up security there. I attended in either '98 or '99 (can't remember). I didn't even have a bidders pass and walked right up on stage and was all over the cars. The "bidders helpers" were even talking to me and seeing if I wanted to bid. Amazing what you can get away with if you act like you belong...
