I have never used sealer. I have always installed dry and never had a leak. My favorite rtv though, is Ultra Copper.

I have a great fear of oil pans leaking. I put entirely too much Ultra Black on and glue it all together. To do the job the way it is supposed to be done use no sealer. If you do you can't beat Ultra Copper. Won't I ever learn?

The service manual calls for a bead of RTV at all four corners of the pan where it mates to the front cover and rear seal area respectivley. I followed the service manual procedure and I used the FelPro one piece blue gasket when I did mine and haven't had any leaks yet (knock-on-wood).

I don't specifically recall the part number of the RTV, but I used black FWIW...

on the four corners. Mine is black for the oil pan and green for the valve covers.

If there are no leaks, why change it?

I worked at an auto parts store for a while and had the opportunity to go to seminars put on by Fel-Pro. They had gaskets there with so much silicone on them there was no way they would seal. I was told to use no more than a "skin" of RTV anywhere! I have the same op gasket you bought and it needs nothing. I use RTV on gaskets that need a little help staying in place during install and that is the ONLY time I use RTV, with the exception of the front and rear of the intake to block area. BTW, my floor is dry under my car.
