Me either. This isn't the place for that. Just trying to get clarification on how long I can expect my 4L60E to last.

Agreed. Which is why I said I expect 200k out of any _properly_maintained_ engine and tranny.

Whew! I'm feeling MUCH better now. This is definitely the direction I wanted this thread to go.

BTW. I LOVE my American cars, from all 3 manufacturers, 3 built in Detroit, 2 in the GTA! Can't find a Canadian flag.

Okay, a bushing in the front pump went out on my '94 (4L60E). Leaked like all hell. $800.00 fix. I can't remember when exactly, but I purchased the car in Nov. of '01 with 34k on the clock. It now has 57k on it. Somewhere around 40k, I think. Trans was serviced at the time of purchase by a dealer, but the car was very well maintained both before and after I bought it. Went into Corvette Action Center and found a dealer bulletin for this bushing for '95 LT-1's. My car was built sometime mid-year so I figure it may have gotten the same "upgraded" part that the '95's got. I've had no troubles since, but I don't abuse this thing because that's always in the back of my mind.

Boy that sux. The front pump bushing and seal are less than 5 bucks. Classic case of 5 dollar part and 800 labor. This was also common on the early c-4's 82, 84 and 85. The fix was drilling a passage in the pump larger to speed drainback. My friend had his 84 front seal blow out on pocono raceway at high speed. So much fluid blew out that everyone had the windshield wipers on. Unortunately for him it wiped out the entire trans.

I would not worry. He had a misadjusted tv cable and sustained high rpm's.

I had my tranny flushed at about 25k on my 95. One week later, the tranny died. Of course, having the car pumped up to 400HP may have had something to do with it. Had the tranny rebuilt with heavy duty parts to take the xtra hp, no problems now.

1995--Green--101K. I flushed the tranny when I bought it about 5 months ago. It had about 96K on it. Since then, the tranny has been perfect.
