Default Reading Codes on my '95

The service manual says you might have an 8 pin connector or a 16 pin connector. It tells you how to read the codes with the 8 pin but not the 16 pin. The pins on the 8 pin are letter coded and the pins on the 16 pin are numbered.

I went to Autozone to have them read and they said they didn't have a reader for pre '96. They showed me a reader I could buy but it had the 8 pin connector.

If you have the 16 pin connector, can you read the codes without a reader? If so, how? If not, what scanner do you use?

I had no problem reading the codes for my "Select Ride" system.

Help.

I just learned this myself, have the car off, and take a paperclip and short pin 4 to pin 12, then turn on your ignition(no start), and then where your digi guages are it will read out codes, and then list them here and someone will know what they mean, or where to lead you
