There is something you can do.
I am new here, but I have been involved with our justice system for thirty years. If you identify the prosecutor handling the case and provide forum members with the contact information, people might call and write. I am not even sure how big this forum is, but I can tell you for sure that if this prosecutor receives calls and letters from all over the country, this case won't fall thru the cracks.
It may seem brutal to say, but this prosecutor is going to decide what this young man's life was worth, how much the offender should be forced to pay for taking it, and how hard he is willing to work to make it happen. You cannot imagine the impact that a few dozen calls and letters can have in a case like this.
