How do the Viper guys see our C4s? I think that the C4 probably rides better takes less work to maintain and is probably a better all around car. Plus we have the tradition. Some of our LT1s can hang with them on the track. I still think that a lot of them have a bias against the Corvette. So overall I think the Vette is a better choice.
OK, I'll bite. My guess is most Viper owners dont think much of our vettes at all. Maybe they prefer driving something that sounds like a Cessna
Only a real car guy could appreciate both for what they are.

Especially the ones that don't own one but are "wannabeeees". One of the Docs I work with wants a V10 Viper but his wife won't let him buy it. So he is constantly putting down other cars. What a dork.
who cares? if you live your life worrying about what others think of you then you will never be happy....another thread brought to you by DV, hows that post count?
From: St. Peters MO Sometimes you have to prove yourself by doing alot of killing or alot of dying...
Does it really matter? First of all... it is a C4 vs ____ thread because you have to "compare" to things to get a comparo thread... therefore it is a competition or versus thread
Second, this is not Motor Trend and you are not a magazine editor so why should we read it as a Motor trend article when this is no where near the length or depth of one of their articles. Seriously, for someone who is a college graduate, that is obvious.
Also, the Viper became an instant legend the moment it was introduced!!! The style is unrivaled by any one on the market. It is practically of super car class and costs alot more than our vettes... they cost more than new vettes... and they are flat cool!!! So does it matter that ours or theirs are better?

If I had a Viper, I'd probably not be too worried about someone driving a C4. I know, mods make the world go around, but typically a Viper will eat most of our lunch.
How a Viper owner views us is very subjective. There are a-holes that drive vettes and I am sure there are a-holes that drive vipers. That said, there are some very cool folks that drive both as well. Stay away from the a-holes and hang with the cool folks and it shouldn't matter what you drive.
My best friend back in DE is an A-line tech at a dodge dealer. He has driven his share of Viper's, all years.
As he puts it: They are heavy, brutal, poor riding, hot and generally nasty cars. Not to be used on a daily basis unless you are into self abuse.
A customer traded his '03 C5 in on a NEW Viper. A week later, they were back trying to get the C5 back... they were keeping the Viper, but wanted the C5 back for daily use. The heat and ride were just too much. Add in the hair trigger throttle...
They are not cars we can compare... not directly. The new Z06 will compare... but the Viper is more powerful, but has the build quality of a kit car.
Rather sad for the $$ they ask...
I would rather keep my C4 than get a Viper. Besides, they sound like a UPS truck (nothing personal Frank).
Oh, and Motor Trend is the bottom feeder of the main car mags. Give me Car & Driver or Road & Track ANYDAY.

do they still actually test cars? i remember reading one a few years ago and most of the performance data on their road tests were estimated...i only read C&D and R&T
I'll never forget the feeling of being sucked in to the Viper intake as I travelled south on the 5 fwy past the Grape Vine...I couldn't wait for that Viper to finally pass me...We traded pole position for a good 40 minutes before the inevitable happened and I got dropped. Viper is an aestetically pleasing sports car...und I'd LOVE to have on in my stable.

The owner of the body shop I use has one, I think it's a 95, last time I saw him he was trying to get rid of it... He told me, like other posts have mentioned that it's not for everyday driving... He said he'd rather have a C5...
I don't care for the new body style much, but I'd love to have one of the previous cars that had the later improvements... I don't drive my Vette everyday anyway, so I think a Viper would make an excellent weekend only fun car...
I went to the track on a friday thinking it was a regular test and tune friday and the place was full of mopars including vipers. They were having a mopar show over the weekend. I made a few passes got to line up against a couple of vipers. The viper guys came over to look at my vette and they were all cool about it. So to answer your question the car guys who have vipers can appreciate the C4 and usually do. People who buy one as more of a look at me car probably think the C4 is junk. JMHO
