Was gonna take the 91 in for a "TEST ONLY" smog check on Saturday, but changing plugs, dist cap, rotor, setting the IAC and TPS and just fartin around, it got to be to late. And they were closed on Sunday. So I lef work for lunch and went today. I purposely went to a station near my house so I'd be good and warmed up. Pulled in right away and the tech left it running for about 15 minutes. Fans kicked in and I know it's just loading up. Sure enough, we failed the 15mph test right off. Fortunately, they can re-test within about 15 minutes. The tech held the rpms up to about 1700 for about 3-4 minutes and re-tested. We came through with flying colors. Looking at the result sheet, HC's - I'm a little over double "average" but well under max; CO - 1/3rd the average; NO - again almost double the average and about 1/2 the max.
All in all, for a car that's 15 years old, 123,500 miles on the clock and has never had the heads or pan off, she did darn well.

Florida dropped the inspection a few years ago, what a relief.
They dropped it right before I had to renew my 81 which would have failed miserably.
I just spent a few days in San Diego with my Son who is proudly serving in US Navy.
I was amazed at the street rods I saw that apparently passed emissions, how do they do it?

74 and older don't have to worry about SMOG. If the cars you saw were newer, though, they must've found a "friendly" shop.
