Actually I decided to take I55 out of Chicago, to I44, then I40 all the way into CA. I'm loving every minute of this trip ... what an awesome improvement over the C4

"All 1997 Corvettes with Gray leather interiors have been shown to induce permanent male organ shrinkage when occupants subject themselves to trips of more than 1,500 miles in length".
but you left out the last sentence:

"Useage of cool black floor mats in Grey interiored C5's... negates the "shrinkage" problem..."

from someone that's had C3's, C4, and C5. All are good Corvettes

That's the route we took cross country, except, we came in from I70!

Sounds like a great car! Auto or 6spd?

Had to go with auto due to a bad left knee. Alreadly have a sweet set of stock Y2K's for it. I'll get them on with new tires (being that these are still the originals) as soon as I get back to CA.
Well, I'm on the road again. Want to make it past Flagstaff, AZ today being that they're expecting storms tomorrow.

Have have to say that with only 30k miles on the clock, it's like a brand spanking new car! I also have to tell you that this beast ROCKS. Man is it a solid ride! I love it. I'm sure I'll always miss my CE, but this will certainly pacify me for a while. It's everything I hoped for. By the way, I bought it from forum member Lumberdog. I real stand-up, straight-shooting guy with a very nice family. The car was even better than how he represented it. I really couldn't have asked to deal with a more fair and honest person. It was a pleasure to meet his family, and a pleasure to do business with him.

Thanks for the well wishes all. Tomorrow I'm going to try to put 1000 mile on the road. May see CA by late evening.
Congratulations! Be careful on the way home...

Make sure the steering column lock was fixed by a re-call.
Make sure the battery isn't leaking common problem with a C-5.
If the battery leaks it can take out the wiring loom, big bucks.

Also run flats can cost $!,800 to $2,000.
Question why drive across country to buy a silver C-5 they're everywhere here?
PS you said a bad thing, "awesome improvment over the C-4" shame on you.

Nice car, good luck.

both were tops in their days. Intended for the markets at the time. Even the C5 is (now) dated.

One nice thing.. as long as it's a Corvette, it's always

That is one nice looking Vette. That is the same color that we are thinking about for my wife's C5. Good luck and be safe on the trip home.

Default I'm Home!!!

Well after driving 16 hours today and logging 1200 miles ... I'M HOME That was quite the road trip and I loved every minute of my time spent with her. She never skipped a beat. What an incredible car! First thing tomorrow morning she'll get a top to bottom detailing. She's got to know she's appreciated right?

Get an avatar of your C5. We'd love to see your new J Lo. J/K. didn't mean to offend anyone. A Corvette is a Corvette and I'll always wave to any gen.
