Well guys, I bit the bullet! I flew to Chicago today to look at a C5 that I put a deposit on several weeks ago. CarFax was clean and a pre-purchase inspection by GM was most impressive! I'll see it in the morning and if all checks out well, I'll begin my journey across the country to CA first thing Saturday morning. It's a Silver 97 Coupe with 30k miles and gray leather sport seats. I'm hoping this is the one! Damn I miss my CE. If I do make the purchase tomorrow, I'll post some pics a.s.a.p. Wish me luck

Good luck with your new purchase. You'll be one of them now. Once the title is signed, something inside you is going to change and you won't be able to log into the C4 section any longer. You won't be able to help yourself. It's a genetic flaw that they haven't yet been able to correct. Hopefully, you will be able to fight the demon that will be inside and you can use that will power to log onto the C4 general.
what a wonderful way to spend a saturday!
your gonna feel like a kid on christmas.
congrats man
sun dont shine on the same dogs butt everyday now does it

You've got to be kidding! I'd log on to C4 general just to read all the Darth threads if nothing else We'll the Vette should be pulling up to my motel any minute, I'll try to report back later tonight.
Thanks guys,
Richard

WARNING! Just released info from the NTSB. "All 1997 Corvettes with Gray leather interiors have been shown to induce permanent male organ shrinkage when occupants subject themselves to trips of more than 1,500 miles in length".
Don't do it man! Get your deposit back and buy another C4. I hope this isn't too late?
Didn't fool you for a moment did I? Oh well, just a feeble attempt to keep you in the fold.
Congratulations and enjoy the car and your trip!

Good luck with J Lo's big butt!! Keep us updated and take some pics! We'd all love to see it!!!
Do us a favor and take care of her. Wave! Don't snub your former C4 friends Don't get on her too hard or you just might really get addicted then.
Lucky you! I wish I could upgrade, don't have the cash right now! Well , good luck and show some pics!! you're doing the "right thing", can't go wrong wit' a C5 bro!!!!
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you folks. Yesterday I did buy the 97 C5 and kept busy all day with the wire transfer, insurance, and DMV. Today I've been busy driving all day. I put on 900 miles today departing Chicago at 6:30 a.m. and finally parked for the night in Elk City Oklahoma. That suckers getting 26.4 MPG. The best I ever got out of my CE was 21.5 MPG. Have have to say that with only 30k miles on the clock, it's like a brand spanking new car! I also have to tell you that this beast ROCKS Man is it a solid ride! I love it. I'm sure I'll always miss my CE, but this will certainly pacify me for a while. It's everything I hoped for. By the way, I bought it from forum member Lumberdog. I real stand-up, straight-shooting guy with a very nice family. The car was even better than how he represented it. I really couldn't have asked to deal with a more fair and honest person. It was a pleasure to meet his family, and a pleasure to do business with him.

Thanks for the well wishes all. Tomorrow I'm going to try to put 1000 mile on the road. May see CA by late evening

Pretty sure you had a beautiful day to drive through Kansas. I am assuming you came down I35 to OKC and then west on I40!? Continue to have a safe journey home.
