I'm finally po'ed enough to want to do something about my LTPWS light coming on. Quite some time back when I was having new tires put on the shop broke one of my tire pressure sensors. I had them replace it but ever since the check LTPWS light comes on after about 5/10 min. of driving. I know I should have gone back to the tire shop immediately but didn't and now it's too late to complain to them. I'm now thinking the next best solution is remove the d%#* lamp but don't know how to get in to do it.Help!
I had the same problem. Supposedly by taking out all the wheel sensors disables the system and kills the light. Worked for me. Haven't seen the light come on since. Weird.
I once test drove a 96 that had a piece of velco stuck on the panel with a pen (with velcro) stuck to it. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but after having my car for a while and occasionally seein that light.....now I know why it was there.
I was told that the sensors only send out a signal if the pressure drops below 25psi. So I would imagine with the sensors removed there would be no signal, therefore no light.
I replaced the wheels on my 95 and did not put the sensers on the new wheels and the light would come on after driving a few miles. I have been told that was normal. What I did was pull the bulb from the dash. You can remove the screws around the cover that goes up from the bottom console around the radio and the heater controls panel. I did not remove the whole panel, just took the screws out around the top, pulled the panel out about two inchs or so and with needle nose pliers pulled the bulb. problem solved, good luck
One of the most annoying, difficult to solve problems many of us face.
Shortly after I bought my car I discovered one missing sensor when I got new tires. Okay, easy fix! NOT. Replaced it and the light still came on. Tested each tire by deflating it to under 25lbs. and driving around the block. (you have to get over 25mph). If the sensor is good, low tire pressure warning light comes on. Found another wheel with a bad sensor. Replaced it. Service LTPWS light still came on, this time after about 15-20 minutes.
When I took my radio out for repair this winter, I pulled the bulb.
I took out the screws holding the message center and removed the bulb from the back. Simple twist and the holder comes out. Beats putting a piece of electrical tape over it.
