Sorry for your trouble EZ. Sounds like you are on the right track to getting this straightened out. Don't buy any more cars on Ebay. There's a reason they couldn't/didn't sell it on the street! EBAY IS FOR SUCKERS!!!
If you have in friend in the car business, they can file a garage lein on the car and apply for a title (costs a couple of hundred bucks but easy to do if you know someone) same think happened to me buying a boat off Ebay.

Sorry I have to disagree. I bought MY 'Vette off eBay for $7200 look at my pic's and read my posts and you will see the condition it is in. As with all used cars it needed the usual tune up items but overall is a solid car. I just bought the front spoilers from a GM dealership on ebay for $62 try finding that price. I bought a low milage air cleaner box with TB hose for $30(so I can cut up mine) the hose at GMParts direct is $165.I bought a set of barely used OEM injectors for $56 less than 1 if you bought it at any autostore. As with all buying and selling of used vehicles/parts a certain amount of trust is involved and anyone can be taken for a ride even if it is face to face.
In my case my car was on a dealership lot and that helped my trust factor but I called them asked very specific questions about the condition of the vehicle and was answered truthfully I have no regrets on this deal whatsoever. There were some things I have bought on ebay that were either not delivered or misrepresented and guess what I either got my money back or was made satisified otherwise by the sellers.1 thing to avoid is sellers with little feedback unless you can go look at the item in person before buying. A little research goes a long way and as with all dealing Buyer Beware.
Now I am sure this guy does not need anyone to tell him he made a mistake but he will learn from it. He has our support and eBay does have some mechanisms to make sure he did not get totally ripped. If you cannot offer some encouragement or advice instead of calling him a sucker it might be better to keep your opinion to yourself

From what I have been told by a car dealer that is the only way you can get a title in Tennessee if the original is lost or no good as in your case. Can't swear to the accuracy of this statement but it is what a knowledgealbe, long time dealer said.
If you look at what he paid for the car, as long as the title shows up he got a smoking deal. You can't go wrong for 4k.
I've bought and sold a lot of stuff here on the forum and on Ebay. Always use common sense, yes there are a couple people out there who will take advantage of you, but they're the people with little or no feedback.
I have sent off all paper work to tx. I even went to a couple extra steps of even taking pic's of vin from dash and rear window. Made copies of all paper work for my own records. I also made sure I have e tracking number so it won't get lost in mail. I keep you updated.

Sounds like you did everything right. Good luck - hope they act quickly
