Default Wipers Hitting Hood

I have a problem, when I turn on my wipers they will not work b/c the driver side wiper gets stuck under the hood. I am not sure if the guy before me bought the wrong size or if the hood needs adjusting. But the wipers work fine with the hood up. Anyone else had this problem?

I had this exact same problem when I bought mine. So I went to my local napa and bought the "Exact Fit" brand for my specific year and alls well. They are probably the right wipers for your car, but some stick up higher where they connect to the wiper arm on the car.

Same problem here the blades that teh previous owner had fitted were too tall

I had to have some blades sent over cos nobody makes blades thin enough here in the UK

Definately too wide or thick of a windshield wiper blade. When I went to the local Auto Parts Store and saw what they suggested, I asked if I could take it outside and compare it to what I had. No way it would have fit. I ordered a set from CorvetteCentral. A bit expensive though.

Good luck,
Dino

By the marks on my hood, someone previous tried a blade that was not for a 86 Corvette. I know because i tried a Bosch blade and when i closed the hood their was contact with the hood right where the marks are. Off with the blades
Took them back and bought Trico blades which the parts guy said are OEM. They fit perfect

I too had a problem with the fit from the local auto store that insisted the new arms were an exact match. Turns out they were not, and too big, they did not close correctly. They connected well, but did not close right, and stuck out instead of being hidden under then hood when closed. So, What I did was use my old arms and thread new blades onto them. Worked out very well. I did not know CorvetteCentral sold arms, that's good to know.

I think most of us have experienced this once in the time we owned our Vettes. I had my car in for repair work and I figured that since they already had the car, I told them to change the wiper blades. They installed a set that were a little too tall and they hit the lip of the hood. So off they came and on with the right sized ones.

Default Me too

I put new blades on because I was going to have to make a 550 mile trip all in the rain. I started out and all was well until it stopped for a while then when I put on the wipers I noticed the drivers side blade was hitting the hood. Pulled into an advance auto store that had a vette in the parking lot and went inside. Started to explain my problem and the clerk said I know what the trouble is because I had it on my vett also. He then said he also had the cure. He crabbed a set of teflon blades went out to the car and put them on. No more problem. Heres the cool part when I got home and went to the dealer who sold me the ones that did not work he refunded my money .
