Hey Guys and Gals... What is the dash light coming on "One to Four" mean?.... Does it have something to do with the idle speed? As always... Thanks in advance!
i would recommend defeating CAGS. its one of the easiest and best mods for a stock vette. its utterly annoying in everyday, in-town driving. $14 and about 20 mins. of your time should do it
i hate it too.... it can be annoying. i just don't have the time, tools, or ability to remove it from happening. i just i'll just get used to it. passengers in my car think i don't know how to shift!!!

If you are trying to shift before from 1st to 2nd before 1200 rpms and between speed of 12-19 mph the CAGS locks out 2nd and 3rd gear. If you don't unplug this at the transmittion, you could either hold the clutch in for about 2 seconds and you can actually go to second gear. Or, rev 1st gear alittle more before shifting. It is definitely a very annoying feature.
Thanks Brad... I just ordered one of those parts, looks like an easy mod!
If the 1-4 shift light is coming on and you're shifting into 2nd or 3rd anyway, CAGS has already been disabled on your car. It is a very common mod.
I only say this because people ususally post "Why the hell is my car locking me out of 2nd gear!???"
CAGS forces you into 4th gear from 1st when your speed and throttle position (and engine temperature) are below certain preset specifications (if you accelerate slowly the light turns on, if you gun it, it doesn't).
If you're not sure if CAGS is disabled, accelerate slowly from a stop in 1st gear, at about 15 mph shift into 2nd, if you can't get the car into 2nd, CAGS is alive and well (try this trick a few times, sometimes the ZF6 can get stuck on a tooth). If you can you should cancel your order (CAGS can be bypassed in the chip or physically via a plug on the bottom of the transmission).
I'm not really sure what the part does other than maybe keep the connection clean and free of grit??? but it was only $20 with shipping and appears to be an easy install with the only problem as always... getting under the car! Thanks again everybody for all the info!
