I want to lower my 88 Auto for better handling. I know there are many different ways I could go about this. Can anyone give me information on the different methods that can be used and the performance and price differences? Also what is a good amount to lower it while maintaining performance and street practicality?
I don't know about "many ways" to lower the car. I can only think of two. One is the wedges and longer rear bolts and the other is coil-over suspension.
One costs ~$40 and the other is, well, a lot more.

Remember, too, that lowering a car does not automatically result in better handling.
Lowering can alter suspension geometry enough to offset any gain that a lowered CG might bring.
I believe the primary benefit from lowering a C4 is the "coolness" factor.
just spent $950 for coilovers with shocks. This way I am able to adjust all four corners on my vette and advance to 4 wheel independent suspension. This system also works well for me because I do my own alignments which will be required everytime I make an adjustment until I get the car set up the way I want. If you just want that lowered look then wedges and longer bolts are all you need
Where does one buy the "wedges"?? What are they? I've seen the longer bolts in Ecklers, but the frontt is what's killing me. Anyone, anyone?? "Bueller, Beuller....?"
Do a search - plenty of threads on this topic - also, check the Tech Tips section - most all the Vette parts places carry the wedges, but you're in for a treat getting the front up in the air high enough to change out the wedges (they are at the center of the spring where it mounts up to the crossmember under the engine) - check Mid America for them - they're pretty cheap.

I agree with Larry 100%
Practicing your driving skills will be a bigger improvement than - dropping the car an inch. Funny how most people think it's the car & not the driver. If your suspension geometry is altered too much, you'll have to install a "bump steer" tie rod kit and that has to be installed at an alignment shop. I don't even know if they make a bump steer kit for the C4.

Never heard of one. However, I have posted numerous suggestions to check UP travel and cut on the bumpstops for additional travel.
