Default Center Console latch thingee

Today my center console broke in my '93. The button that is normally pressed to open the center console no longer resets itself after closing. I never noticed a spring or any kind of mechanical mechanism that latched before, but its defintiy broken.

Anyone else run into this? I could use some info on finding a replacement part.

I found the replacement spring that I needed. It was much easier to find than I thought it would be.

Sorry to waste your time

Another fix is to simply remove the button, and remove the spring from the hinge (or if you're lazy snip the ends so it just spins when you open the door). Now your lid is held down with gravity, stays up in the open position once opened, and there's no more springs or buttons to worry about. Makes getting my gate and garage door opener a lot easier and faster to get to as well..
