I dont know i guess i just need to hear how much nicer c4 are than c5, beside i could only afford a 1997-99 c5 and i hear all kinds of problems with 6 sp and people say u should never get a car within the first few years of a major rework, i love my blue vette and have put lots of money and time in it, but I do like the c5 and it does look...well less 80ies, but everyone loves the 80ies......any thoughts on why to keep a 1992 c4 or should i trade up......

I am thinking about a C5 too. However, I have driven a few C5s and they are a different animal (much more refined). I will use an 80s analogy they are the difference between a lady and a skank. Skanks are a lot of fun. However, you would rather be caught out with a lady. So I will keep my C4(skank) and add a C5 to my stable in the near future. In all seriousness drive a few C5s, I love the way they look however, their ride, performance and the seats just don't get me jazzed like the C4. See what works for you the wild less sophisticated C4 or the fast but sophisticated C5.

i also like the looks on the c5 ( not anymore than the c4 ) but i am in the same situation i have put alot of money into my 94 c4 and just cannot bring myself to part with it so maybe one day i can just buy another and ave a c4 and a c5. so i say keep it and just buy a c4 to add to the collection
I was actually considering a new(er) C5 Convertible at the time I came across my 1993 Callaway SuperNatural 425 Convertible
I bought the Callaway for about the same money and have a car that has maintained its value and may even gain some over time and is faster, prettier, and better sounding to boot
I would not sell any of my 3 C4's for a C5 - maybe add one though
Had a 2001 Coupe and a 2002 Z06 loved them both. BUT when you look at the C4 and the C5 there is no way you could tell me that the C5 is a better looking vette , the C4 is a Beatuiful Women the C5 is a skinny chick in the world of style of body. When I had my Coupe I was always looking for a faster vette , when I had my Z06 I was always looking to take the top off??? Looking at the C4 for the body style I wanted I got the best of all worlds with the LT4 Roadster. If you have never owned a C5 rent one for a week and you will see what I mean they are smoother and a more luxury ride than the C4 but heck it is not that bad with the C4. Good Luck with your choice but if you get rid of the C4 you will find yourself staring at that sleek body go by while you drive in your clamshell
i like the c4's better. i don't see that many anymore and i see c5's all the time. both are nice but i like the sleekness of the 4's. it is your decision but like what has been said above, rent one for awhile. this will tell you for sure. goodluck
The C5 is a better car anyway you look at it,the car just looks better.BIG *** AND ALL.The ZR1 is pretty wide through the *** end but ive never heard anyone bitch about that. But I would take a ZR1 over any C5.

Enjoy the 92 then think about a 50th 03 next year. That's what I'm doing. I have a vert and would like to switch to a coupe so that we can take longer road trips. The vert is really limited even with creative packing.
I have both. The C4 with the performance axle, bilstien shocks etc. (Z52 option) drives and handles like I expected a Vette to ride and handle. I have heard it said that you get in a C5 but you put on a C4. That is pretty accurate describing the difference in how you feel in the car. The C5 on the other hand is faster but does'nt have the brawny feel of the C4 even with corsa pace exhaust. It has always felt to me like the "gentlemans Corvette" unlike the brutish feel of the C4. I love them both but the C4 gives me the nostalgic sensation of the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's which quite honestly, I prefer. I"m fortunate that I can enjoy both. For a daily driver or a long road trip only one answer,C5. Good luck, save the wave! FLYZLOW
Have an 88 Z52, going to keep it, and find a low mile C5, probably have both forever. The 88 is a great ride, fun in town, but on high speed trips, a little loud.
I saw an electron blue 2002 w/ a Lingenfelter supercharger on it not too long ago, thought man that would be nice. Took a ride to the DFW area today and saw a few C5's , they were nice as well , but when I got out of my C4 all black and shined up, Greenwood pkg... One look back at it and nothing even comes close... C4 all the way..
you know what i love about these cars besides them being the best looking vette ever made.... i do not see many C4's around... I see C5's everywhere... its real nice when your car is fairly rare it makes you feel like your part of an elite crowd... plus the C4 is pretty refined it has all the creature comforts i could ever want sure it rides rough but its a sports car and you want it to be firm.
It's true...Just don't see too many early C4's around anymore. Guess thats' what lights my fire when I pull the cover off the 89-She looks good! Considering adding a GS to the stable soon....It was either that or an 04 Z06 which is out of my range and is still falling in value...I'll be in debt forever...But with another C4, who cares? Besides, the S.O. saw a pic of a GS tonight and actually liked it. (Told her what a great investment it was )
I think i will let one of friends buy a c5 and just barrow it once in a while, like the guy said...I love the brute force and lack of refinement thats part of my c4, like a race car or something, and the c5 is more a unisex corvette which is another reason i cant get into one, i see more females driving them then males at least in california, the c6 has some better potental in looking like a guy car, i cant wait to drive one....i guess i have my audi a6 for luxury and dont need another refined car....nothing compares to the sound of flows on my car and I get all kinds of compliments on it every day....but when c6's get down to 20k IM IN ONE
