Shipping could be around 1500 -2k. Sounds like it needs a few grand sunk into it.
I'd keep looking. You can pick up a decent 89 for 5-6k if you look. Be patient and look at a bunch.
BTW, where in Cali is it? Maybe one of us out here can look at it for you

Looked great until reading about the interior and paint. They probably have receipts, and if it's one of those type of people that pay the repair bills at the dealer, no questions asked, then it's more than likely well cared for.

Those other issues are cosmetic wear items attributed to mileage and perhaps not being garaged or waxed since it was a daily driver at one time.

Not worth shipping across country, even if the fishing lady in your sig comes with it.

The deal doesn't sound bad... but once shipping is factored in, you might be able to match or beat the deal locally.

Just my two cents but I just spent five months looking before buying my vette. Here in FL there are tons of them for sale so pricing is competitive. Don't be in a hurry, do some research to decide what options you want and wait for it. You can do better than that price / condition and you can find it a lot closer.

Default Just my two cents...

Hi Joe, I just did a long distance buy thru the net. I wouldn't do it again if I had it to do over. There isn't anything more unsettling than buying something you have not looked at yourself, IMHO. Not saying most sellers try to pull fast ones but there isn't anything like you and a couple of vette buddies going over & looking & talking to the seller. The anxiety of dealing long distance was tough. You know you pay the $ and wait for the car to show up & hope that it is all it's put up to be because you did all the homework. Not saying anything bad about anyone but if there is a selection locally I'd look there first. JMHO, Tom. Good luck in your search!

It seems like there's more vettes in Florida than anywhere else..This price is good but too far away..The dash light thing scares me a little bit on an 89.. Probably a cluster issue$$$$$

I dont think I would chance buying it long distance, and then having the freight charge added. If the freight is $1500-$2000, then I would opt to look at a higher priced car. That wipes out the benefit of a $4000 offer.

My opinion would be to keep looking locally. Something that you can see, inspect and drive. Then make the decision.

$4000 sounds pretty decent for the description and the mileage though.

A project corvette can get expensive if it needs paint and intereior. If i where you i would either get somthing local. shipping isn't that bad though I bought my wifes car off e-bay and it was $600 shipped from Texas to South Carolina.

Shipping on the car should not be that bad, maybe $1000 But I doubt it would be more than that. Hell you can have it put on the Auto Train for like $500.

Living in Florida you see all of the seniors driving with Ohio plates and stuff. These people can't drive around a parking lot never mind a 3000 mile trip from Ohio. They all have them brought down on the Auto train or car carriers. You know these elderly folks aren't spending $1500-$2000 for a ONE WAY shipping to get their car here.

I would check out auto transports and Auto trains

The deal doesn't sound bad at all
I paid $8500 for my 1992 last September with 144k miles on it and I drove from Palm Beach to Bradenton to get it.

If you are willing to spend $8000-$9000 you can find a good clean 90s right here in Florida.
I can call my a friend up he had a nice Polo Green 1992 vert he was selling for $9000 but I talked him out of selling it. He may be looking to sell it again I don't know. He never drives the car it sits in the garage under cover all the time.
