i am a proud new owner of a 85 vette, and i was wondering, my headlights wont come up or anything, is there some way to diagnose this problem, im just not totally sure its not a problem with the electrical , "this car is a mess, i guess someone has totally rigged everything, there is a splice everywhere you look" anyways i would appreciate any help, thanks
Sounds like the first thing you need to do is get a copy of an electrical manual and/or diagrams.
First thing I'd check if you have that many potential electrical issues is to check the fuses to see if any are burnt out. Then using a voltmeter see if you are getting power to the headlight motors. Another possible issue is that the motors are actually running but the gears/bushings are bad. This is a common issue with the original factory parts. If you can hear the motors running but nothing moves, then start there. If not then start w/the electrical side of things.
The 85 has headlight relays that operate the motors. They are located on the drivers side bolted to the front of the fenderwell. In the same area as the purge canister.
