I'm having the same problem with my '85. You mentioned running a jumper wire. where exactly do you run the jumper wire? Do you have to remove the display to access the ground you are talking about? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jay

Wow we're going back 7 years here or so. Anyway I did open the thread and looked it over and see that it wasn't me who posted those solutions you're asking about.
Sorry I can't help...

Second post is probly accurate altho there are two sides to an electrical issue. The lighting is 12 volt and has nothing to do with the on board power supply. Pull the gauge panel and check the black wires coming into the panel for low resistance, basically none. If this i good, you need to look at the boards and pay attention to the ten pin connector between the boards. Any obvious damage or discoloration will perhaps point you at the problem. My problem was in this connector with the + side and I soldered a piece of wire from one board to the other at or close to this connector. Not sayin thats your problem but that is where to start. Check out Batee.com as suggested in this nearly 8 year old thread. Also the mods get their feathers ruffled if you bring up a thread older than 45 days. If you do your search and you dont find your answer, then post up a new thread.

Good luck!
