Mufflers
Hi, I just bought an 84 vette and the guy before me took off the mufflers and ran it straight pipes after the cats. It doesn't have a nice muffler eliminator or anything just plain pipes. I wanted to get mufflers and new pipes from the cat back and wondered if anyone had any suggestions. I am looking for something inexspensive at the time. Also i heard that any mufflers with resonators aren't very good for old cars because they can rattle anything that is loose in the back. any suggestions on cheap mufflers and pipes?? thanks alot...

If You're Looking For An Inexpensive Replacement...
you might want to look for a used early C4 exhaust system. Usually someone here is replacing the stock system with an aftermarket system such as Flowmaster, Corsa, etc. The used systems can usually be had for fairly low prices. Just check to make sure all the parts are there and that there isn't any rust on the pipes or mufflers. Good luck!

The cheapest way is to just have mufflers welded into the pipes rather than a whole cat back... but it is all about how much cushion you have in your wallet. I used Hooker Aerochambers, but there are several other options out there. Do your homework and make the best choice for you
