Default AC compressor replacement.

AC compressor ........ I had everything converted except for the comperessor.... now its shot. Just curious how much it costs to replace it approximately.... thanks in advance.

I got mine from The Last Detail, cost about $200-250, I dont remember. Cheapest place I found though.

You should replace the accumulator and orifice tube as well if you havent. Accumulator was about $40, tube was cheap.

was that a NEW compressor or rebuilt? what would you recomend?

Look up Kompressor works on Ebay- from texas. He sells a NEW compressor, accumulator, orfice tube and compressor oil for around 200.00

I think my rebuilt from pepboys was less than $150. Its worked great so far.

The guys on this Board - www.ackits.com - bemoan the Discounters, particularly the Factory Aire Brand. I bought new for my truck from Autozone, and it was broken out of the box (wish I'd discovered it before I installed it, but they gave me another one and reimbursed me for the gas and oil to boot!). I'd recommend the Last Detail - www.tld-corvette.com - and you might want to make sure it comes with the fan switch which I think is unique for the '84. I believe the whole set up runs $200 to $250. If the old one seized, I'd replace the Accumulator again too.

I bit the bullet and went with a polished unit from March. All the braccket cost as much as the compressor

In two weeks we chould have the SS braid AC line made. That is taking more time than I planned....
